When entering into a lease contract for a new vehicle, you will receive an offer that includes financing and, in some cases, Casco insurance and motor third party liability insurance. But these are not the only costs awaiting car owners. Your new four-wheeled companion needs regular maintenance, repairs, roadworthiness inspections... The list is endless! However, there is a simple solution to reduce the ‘headache’ awaiting you – full-service leasing.

“The aim of full-service leasing is to make the life of car owners as comfortable and carefree as possible,” says Manager of Avis Estonia’s Leasing Department Olgert Tamm. “Each customer can choose the package they prefer. It is a tailor-made solution where, in addition to routine maintenance, the monthly fee for the vehicle may even include a car wash.”

But what exactly is this service and for whom is it suitable?

How does it differ from leasing?

In the case of standard leasing, the customer is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle has passed the inspection of roadworthiness, that maintenance and repairs have been carried out and tyres meet the requirements. But wouldn’t it be great if someone did all of this for you? That is exactly what Avis’ full-service leasing allows. Your car will be maintained, your tyres changed (and stored), and you will be able to deal with something more important instead of waiting in the lobby of the workshop.

It is a convenience service that is suitable for everyone. Although it may seem costly at first glance, full-service leasing will help you save time and money in the long term. Taking into consideration the time spent on car management, customers of Avis’ full-service leasing save seven days per year and up to five weeks in a five-year period.

The sky is the limit – anything is possible

Avis highly values long-term customer relationships based on open and personal communication. Every customer can put together a package that suits them. In addition to the usual maintenance, you can also include a car wash and a door-to-door service (the car will be taken to the service and returned) in the monthly fee.

Avis’ full-service leasing is best described by three words: flexible, fast and personal. “We don’t set any limits. We will find a personal solution for both business and private customers,” says Tamm, referring to customers who include a fixed number of washes in the monthly fee as an example. So, if you wish, your car will be taken for maintenance, washed and returned, all shiny and serviced – it is up to you!

Savings in the long term

At a time of high inflation and constantly rising prices, we also need to talk about money. “A full-service leasing customer does not have to worry if the seller of oil decides to increase the price five times tomorrow – that is our responsibility,” says Tamm. “For the customer, the monthly fee is fixed for the lease period and is not affected by inflation and price increases.” He adds that the customer can always make changes to their package during that period – for example, to add services or, vice versa, to cancel some of them.

Customers do not have to worry about Euribor either. “We take a fixed monthly fee as the basis. In addition, the fee for Casco insurance and motor third party liability insurance will not change,” Tamm explains. On average, the lease period is 3-5 years. According to Tamm, cars are rarely leased for just one or two years, as the benefits of the service manifest themselves over a longer period of time. A four-year period is the most common, as it offers a sweet residual value and a good level of liquidity.

But how much is the down payment for a vehicle? This is individual. “Ranging from a 0 percent down payment to a percentage chosen by the customer or a specific amount. It is also becoming common to use your existing car as a down payment,” says Tamm.

At the end of the lease period, the customer has several options: to return the vehicle to Avis and terminate the contract, to extend the period, to buy the vehicle out or exchange it for a newer one with the help of Avis’ sales team.

The service is also suitable for those interested in electric cars. You can conveniently charge your vehicle using a home charger if you wish. Avis’ partners will make you an offer, and Avis will include the cost of installing and renting the electric charger in the monthly fee.

Convertible, sedan... The choice is yours!

Which cars can be leased using Avis’ full-service leasing? The choice is yours – you can opt for a BMW 5 Series or a seven-seater family car. There are only a few conditions to consider:

  • the maximum age of the vehicle is eight years;
  • the maximum mileage is 75,000 km;
  • new or little used.

If you get into a car accident, it is highly likely that you are extremely stressed and have a lot of questions. Will I get a replacement car? Will Casco insurance cover it? Do I get roadside assistance? And what happens if I puncture the tyre of my brand new vehicle – who do I contact?

The above problems reveal another advantage of Avis’ full-service leasing. Every vehicle comes with Avis’ own 24/7 roadside assistance – and it is completely digital if you wish. “Customers can digitally order a tow truck and see on a map how far away the tow truck driver is – it is just as convenient as ordering a taxi using an app,” Tamm clarifies. The service is available in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe. If your car got a little scratched in the car park – for example, if you reversed into a pole – Avis’ digital claims handling will be of assistance. The customer can call our helpline and make a selection, after which they will receive a message with a form for a loss event, where they can describe what happened and attach photos. “This saves the car owner about 75 percent of their time.”

Further information about the loss event will also be sent to the customer’s telephone. Information on the arrival of spare parts as well as possible repair times will be provided.

A vehicle of the same class as replacement

If the technical condition of your brand new car does not allow you to drive it for a while, you will get a replacement car from Avis’ rental fleet and for an unlimited period at that – until your four-wheeled friend has been repaired.

There are various packages available for the replacement car service. In the case of more expensive ones, your vehicle will be replaced by a car of the same class. With more affordable packages, the replacement car is an automatic transmission vehicle that is as good as new.

Normal wear and tear

Another package that customers can add to their car’s monthly fee is the ‘Cost of repairs corresponding to normal wear and tear’. What does it mean?

By this we mean the so-called normal consumables: windshield wipers, headlight bulbs, brake pads and discs. It does not cover unforeseen costs, such as replacing shock absorbers and bushings. If you wish, you can have them replaced at the dealership at a discounted price that Avis is entitled to as a major customer.

“Avis has several hundred cooperation partners with whom we have agreed on discounts which we are happy to share with our customers. Even if you take the minimum package, you will still benefit from them,” says Tamm, adding that customers also receive discounts on car washes and fuel, for example.
